Our Community CARE mission is to connect and equip Christians to share their lives, faith, talents and resources with others. We believe God cares about our physical needs as much as He cares that we know Jesus’ gift of sacrifice. We have two Programs within our Community CARE Ministry:
Our Food Relief Program provides support to address immediate needs in times of financial crisis and assistance to community members who are experiencing ongoing financial stress and personal hardship. This service is free, confidential and non-judgemental and help people with food parcels.
Every fourth Sunday of each month we give out food parcels.
From January 2018 government started subsidising free tertiary education for poor and working class specifically children who come from households with a combined income of R350 000 per annum. This notwithstanding, a majority of predominantly black students still face the challenge of access in the sense that they are unable to pay relatively exorbitant fees for registration.
It is against the above background that the church took the decision to establish its own educational fund to ensure that no child is denied an opportunity to further their studies purely on the basis that they can’t afford to pay registration fees.
In the short term, the educational fund was established to ensure that we counter the challenge of a lack of registration fees for deserving young people. In 2019 a number of young people in our church who had excellent results in matric were unable to further their studies due to the lack of registration fees.
The fund was essentially created to provide mainly indigent and academically deserving young people in our church with the means to pay registration costs. Over time the fund will seek to evolve into a bursary fund specifically for post-graduate studies as NSFAS does not provide funding for this group of students (WATCH THIS SPACE).
The fund is funded through the contributions of members of the church. It should be noted that every contribution is done on a voluntary basis no member under any circumstance shall be compelled to make contributions to the fund.
